As someone who has spent thousands of hours in the pool over the years, I know the dread that can come when you know you will need to put in the laps but you just can’t stand the boredom. Of course, if you are swimming with your team, that may not be an issue, but when you are training on your own as many adults do these days, sometimes you need a little assistance. Thankfully, technology has changed a lot in recent years and you can now swim along to your favorite songs, or even an audiobook.
What To Look for in an Underwater MP3 Player
The first thing that you will want to consider is how you will hook it on to your body or head. Some of the more popular underwater MP3 players are able to slip right into your swimming cap, while if you aren’t going to do laps, you might want one that you could put on your sunglasses or your swimsuit. the choice is really up to you.
The other consideration that you will have will be how many songs the device will hold. If you aer like me and you spend a lot of time in the water, then you will want one with a much bigger capacity because eventually you will get bored of hearing the same old songs. The very first versions of these devices used to hold only 40 or 50 songs, but now they will hold thousands of songs.
Which Brands are Best?
What is really interesting about underwater MP3 players is that this is a market of electronic devices that until recently has not been entered into by the major players. It is only recently that Apple has decided to put out an underwater MP3 player, but it is not considered to be as good as some of the others. After all, you don’t want sleek styling – you just want something that you can use easily when you are swimming. It isn’t for show!
In my experience, I have found that the Nu Dolpin line of MP3 players is the best – at least for the kind of swimming that I do. The reason for this is because it is easy to use when your hands are wet, it is slim enough to put in your swim cap, and it is also intuitive to use when you are underwater. I have never had a problem fast forwarding through songs or putting it on pause, even when I’m not looking at it.
Is This a Good Buy?
As much as I love to swim, there are times when I will get bored or just want to get through it quicker and I have found that having an MP3 player can really help. Whether you are a serious competitor or just someone who likes to feel the sun on your back, this device can really make your swimming a lot more fun – and it might even make you swim faster, too!
